DENMEAD BOWLS CLUB
CORONA VIRUS STATEMENT
To all members
The Executive Committee are aware of the current situation and the vulnerability within our club especially as a high percentage of our club falls into the 70+ and high-risk category.
Below I have copied and pasted an extract from BOWLS HAMPSHIRE’S advice to all clubs
Bowling at Clubs prior to 1st July
Bowls England has not stated that Bowls should not take place in the early part of the season. However, a large proportion of members are over age 70 and may well be self-isolating. Social Distancing will be in place and many Clubs will have problems in maintaining their greens in this period. Bowls Hampshire, therefore, recommends that Clubs should not allow bowling before 1st July.
Bowls England, Bowls Hampshire and the Ladies and Men’s P&D have cancelled all competitions which also includes the leagues.
It is with this in mind and also government advice on social distancing and visiting of pubs, clubs etc. that the committee has taken the decision to close the club with immediate effect, except for essential maintenance until the 1st July.
We understand that this may disappoint some of our members but please be sure we will closely monitor the situation and should there be any change in circumstances then we will act accordingly.
We will let members know of any developments when possible by email or on the web site, we shall also arrange some events later in the season if and when the situation changes.
We are conscious that there are members who may feel isolated can we ask everyone to be aware and keep in touch with these members.
